Digital Onam Celebration 2020

The proverb that was popular during the pre-COVID days means that people must eat Onam feast even if they have to sell their property. The pandemic has changed the very nature of Onam celebrations, but it has not lowered the spirit of the annual harvest festival. And people with penchant for wordplay have tweaked the adage to resonate with the changing times: Online Ayum Onam Aghoshikkanam, meaning everybody should celebrate Onam through online. Therefore our institution also planned to celebrate a low-key onam to bring back the joy and harmony even in this pandemic days.

It was an entirely new experience we had and I would reckon that i could see the true spirit we used to have before these pandemic. I went to my college and dressed up as "maveli" to bless my dear students. We bought beautiful flowers to make "Athappokkalam". We also had several competitions like Athappokkalam , Malayalee Manga , Photography competitions etc. One thing I have noticed is that, everything was normal but there exist only one difference is a "Digital" element. I believe these times shall pass and arise a new dawn of hope for all.
